Salem-Leigh C. Morrison, Sr., 73, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his residence.

Leigh was born May 14, 1943 in East Greenwich and was the son of the late Arthur and Gertrude (Craner) Morrison.

Leigh was a 1963 graduate of Salem Washington Academy.  He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War.

Leigh was a self-employed contractor in the local area for 40 years until he retired.

He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars, fishing and hunting.  Leigh was a member of the Francis J. Clark American Legion in Salem and also a member of the NRA.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Morrison and a sister, Barbara Roche.

Leigh is survived by his children, Leigh C. (Patti) Morrison, Jr. of Shushan and Kasey M. Morrison of Salem; his siblings, Edward (Sue) Morrison of East Greenwich, Charles Morrison of Salem and Marilyn (Ira) Andrus of Miami, FL.  He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Andrew Morrison, James Morrison and Garrett Ashton and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on May 13, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Salem.
