Obituary

Lee Scofield Nesbitt Jr., 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Glens Falls, New York. Born on July 26, 1955, Lee lived a life centered around family, hard work, kindness, and helping others. A proud veteran, Lee honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1977 as a Medical Service Specialist. After leaving the military, Lee spent many dedicated years working on a dairy farm alongside his then father-in-law, where he became known for his tireless work ethic, long hours, and unwavering dedication. He later went on to work in construction, where he was equally respected for his dependability, skill, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it. Lee had a heart bigger than life itself. He was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He loved deeply, cared fiercely for his family, and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He also had a lifelong love for music and enjoyed playing bass guitar in his younger years. Lee was predeceased by his father, Lee Nesbitt Sr. and his brothers, Brian Bentley Waite and Scott Waite. Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Sheryl Anne Nesbitt; his mother, Virginia Allen; his children, Candi May Lash, Melissa Lee Hughes (Daniel), Lee Scofield Nesbitt III (Siobhán), Joshua John Nesbitt, Dylan Scott Fischer Nesbitt (Bianca), Heidi Seider (Chris), and Rebecca Beaver (Jason); his brothers, Glenn Nesbitt (Trudy) and Mark Waite (Rikki); and his sisters, Londa Baker, Robin Vecchione (Vincent), Darlene Legendre (John), Melanie Beamon (Steven), and Lenise Patrick (Ron). He was a proud grandfather to Dakota Robert Lash, McKenna Juliet Lash, Mikayla Jean Hurt (Justin), Michael James Wickham (Carly), Gavin John Wickham (Emma), Jacob Lee Hughes, Jameson Daniel Hughes, Maebh Nesbitt, Renee Elizabeth Galusha, Liam Patrick Nesbitt, Remington William Fischer Nesbitt, Maelynn Everlee Fischer Nesbitt, Sophiana Rose Fischer Nesbitt, Jaycee Jones (Jeremy), Caden Jensen (Lexi), McCrae Rhodes (McKenna), Austin Rhodes, and Makayla Everton (Carsen). Lee was also blessed with great-grandchildren Bennett, Brooklyn, Kashden, Jameson, Maggie Sue, Macie Mae, Scotty, McClain, Elaine, and Abigail, all of whom brought him tremendous joy. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St, Cambridge, NY. The military burial will take place at 2 pm on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY. Though Lee's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, his memory, generosity, strength, and love for his family will continue to live on through all who knew him.
