Troy-Dr. Joseph C. Pender, 88, of Troy, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 following a brief illness in Troy, N.Y. surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Pender was a long time physician in Cambridge, NY. He spent his entire career at the Mary McClellan Hospital where he served as Medical Director and a member of the Board of Directors. The Critical Care Unit was named for him. He was a member of the Cambridge village board. He was a strong supporter of the community & CCS athletics. He was a long time communicant of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and served on the Parish council and was director of the youth ministry.

Dr. Pender is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Jane (Keniry) Pender; his children, Bridget Fetter, Matthew Pender & Nichole Barber, Claire & Casey Preece, Margaret & Andy Holcomb; nine grandchildren, Rob Fetter, Katonna Clark (Wesley), Matthew Fetter & Madeleine Walach, Ian Pender, Derek Pender, Jennifer Pohl (Jason), Joseph Holcomb, Joshua Holcomb, Jessica Ryder(Tom) and 10 great grandchildren. Brinley & Ellie Clark, Trevor & Sydney Pohl, Bernadette & Joan Fetter, Grayson Holcomb, Fyona & Jaron Barber and Charles Ryder

Calling hours will be Monday, August 21, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at St. Patrick's Church, 17 South Park St., Cambridge with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating.

Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Cambridge.
