Cambridge, NY – John James Lynch, Jr., 64, of Cambridge, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his residence. Born January 19, 1962, he was the beloved son of the late Cecilia Dolan Lynch and John James Lynch, Sr.

John grew up on Long Island and graduated from Lindenhurst High School in Lindenhurst, NY. He was employed for 25 years with the New York City Department of Sanitation until his retirement. In retirement, he continued to lead an active and meaningful life. John lived on Long Island for many years and later in Connecticut before moving to Cambridge ten years ago.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Salem and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, especially enjoying time spent in nature. Known for his generous spirit, John devoted much of his time to helping others. He volunteered on trips with the Sierra Club and with the Global Dental Relief Organization. After moving to Cambridge, he continued his commitment to service by volunteering at the Cambridge Food Pantry and by becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he found friendship and purpose while offering encouragement and support to many along the way.

On July 29, 2012, he married Patricia McCarthy, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step-son, Peter Tuite of Greenwich, NY; his goddaughter, Johna Belmonte of Long Island; his sisters, June (Michael) Plotkin of Pittston, Pennsylvania and Maryjane (Donald) Budde of Amityville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Katherine Monte and Donna Alexandre.
