Obituary

Salem - Jeanne A. Middlebrook, age 77, of Salem, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025.

Born on May 1, 1947, in Bennington, Vermont, Jeanne was the daughter of Clarence Becker and Marguerite Godin and was raised by her dad, Jerry Cornell. She graduated in 1965 from Bennington Catholic High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and a foundation of values that she carried with her throughout her life.

Jeanne's professional life was marked by a deep dedication to others. She worked as a Teacher's Aide for Special Education students at Greenwich Central School, a job that brought her great joy. After many years of service, she retired, having touched the lives of countless students with her patience, kindness, and unwavering support.

Outside of her career, Jeanne had many passions that brought her fulfillment. She enjoyed sewing, craft painting, and interior decorating, and she had a special talent for wallpapering. However, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were a central part of her life, and her love for them was evident in everything she did.

Jeanne shared 52 years of love and partnership with her husband, John R. "Jack" Middlebrook, who passed away on March 11, 2021. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and devotion to family. Jeanne is survived by their children: Susan (John) Goodbred of Clifton Park, NY, Kristen (Mark) Eastman of Shushan, NY, Paige (Jim) Ford of Rapid City, IL, John "Toby" Cornell (Ambi) Middlebrook of Spanish Forks, UT, and Kenny (Sarah) Rice of Greenwich, NY. She also leaves behind her sister, Donna (late Donald) Armstrong of Indian Land, SC, along with her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Goodbred, JR Goodbred, Jennifer Connolly, Nicholas & Jeffrey Korsak, Jeremy Eastman, Austin (Morgan) Eastman, Mackenzie & Griffin Ford, David & Delaney Middlebrook, Charles, Kolton & Kyler Middlebrook and Tyler Rice and great-grandchildren, Harper Connolly, Luke, Jameson, Karsyn Eastman, Maverick Middlebrook and a baby on the way.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents and her daughter, Lisa Garneau, whose memory she held close to her heart. Her family and friends will forever remember her for her selflessness, her nurturing spirit, and her unwavering love.
