Obituary

Salem-Janis Sue (Lundy) Montgomery passed into the arms of the Lord on October 19, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born April 14, 1960 the daughter of Malcolm R. Lundy and Marion N. (Reid) Lundy.

Jan graduated from Hartford Central School in 1978 and from the School of Nursing at Bennington, VT.  Jan attended the Salem United Methodist Church.

Jan will forever be remembered for her compassion, her selfless service to others, and the love that she demonstrated to her entire family, her large circle of friends, and the local community.  Jan demonstrated her caring for others in the professional field of nursing that she cared passionately about.  Her warm smile and quick wit was comforting and welcomed by everyone whose life she touched.   Her passion of sewing, crafts, and cooking are well known.

Jan was predeceased by her grandparents George R. and Irene V. Lundy and Robert M. and Ethel A. Reid, her father Malcolm R. Lundy, her sister Kathleen M. Chapin, and her brother in law Daniel G. Chapin.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband Stephen L. Montgomery, her sons Mark M. Montgomery and David L. Montgomery and his fiancé Katie Fiorini, and her daughter Leslie R. Campos and her husband Lidio.  Jan is also survived by a very special granddaughter Susana Mae Campos; her mother Marion N. (Reid) Lundy; brother William R. Lundy and wife Regina; sisters Gayle A. Hall and husband Samuel; Kendra J. Hamilton and husband Steven; and Karen B. Liebig and husband Robert.  She is survived by her sister in law Debora Wallace.   Several nieces and nephews also survive her Eric and Caroline Chapin, Robert Chapin, and Andrew Chapin; Brian Hall and fiancé Danielle Vesce; Russell and Alyssa Lundy, Reid and Breanna Lundy, Patrick Lundy, Malcolm Lundy; Scott Hamilton, Mallory (Hamilton) and Reeve Chilton; Bethany Liebig and fiancé Peter Linde, and Rachel Liebig and her companion Jeffry Hoessle.  Several great nieces and nephews will also cherish wonderful memories of Aunt Jan – Emma Chapin, Jillianne Chapin; Harrison Chapin, Howard Chapin, and Henry Chapin (their Mom Shelly); and Stanley Hall (his Mom Theresa).

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Salem United Methodist Church, 29 West Broadway, Salem.  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Salem.  A reception will follow in the Church Friendship Hall.
