Salem-Janet M. Donoghue, 86, of Salem, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at her residence.
Born January 1, 1936 in Pecksville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Touner and Irene (Dakin) Smalley.
Janet graduated from Mt. Kisco High School and worked for Westchester Coldprovia in Katonah, NY where she started as a bookkeeper and worked her way to the position of Controller until she retired. Following retirement, Janet ran the office and was the Secretary/Treasurer for Edward A. Donoghue Associates, Inc. code and safety consultants.
Janet was a member of the Town of Salem planning Board for 30 plus years where she was as chair for many years. She was also a member of the Friends of the Bancroft Library in Salem and was a member and past President of the Fort Salem Theatre Guild and enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake George.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Roy Smalley.
Janet is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward A. Donoghue; a son and his wife, Andrew and Mary Elizabeth Donoghue of Amherst, MA; grandchildren, Ryan Donoghue of Amherst, MA and Dylan Donoghue of Keen, NH; one brother and two sisters, Douglas Smalley of Mt. Holley, NJ, Lavinia Bellusci of Parkland, FL and Patricia Campana of North Carolina.
Services will be held privately.
