Salem-Helen Wakefield Dunham, 97, of Salem, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 in the comfort of her home. She was born on January 31, 1926, in Sheffield, Mass. Helen was a strong and patient woman who raised seven children with love and devotion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, in 1987.

Helen's successful career was exactly what she wanted out of life - to be a wife and a mother. Her dedication to her family was unwavering, and she found fulfillment in creating a loving and nurturing home for her children.

She is survived by her children, Judy Shaw of Salem; Jean (William) Moody of Lima, NY; Wakie (Kathy) of League City, TX; Joe (Tisha) of Eagle River, AK; Diane Dundon of Dallas, TX; and Peter (Laura) of Salem; a step-son, William (Susan) of Salem.  She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and an expected great-great grandchild next month.

Mom donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Program at the Albany Medical Center, emphasizing her selflessness even after her passing.

A celebration of Helen's life will be held at a later date.
