West Hebron-Harrison "Harry" Mason, 90, of West Hebron, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at his residence.
Born April 20, 1925 in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of the late Harrison and Elizabeth (Higgins) Mason. He attended schools in Westchester County and attended Pratt University studying engineering.
Harry was a World War II Veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member and past Commander and Treasurer of the VFW in South Plainfield, NJ; a member of the Military Order of the Cootie of the United States and was also a member of Holy Cross Church in Salem.
Harry worked for Raymond International in New York and was then transferred to Houston, TX working there for many years retiring in 1989 after 38 years of service.
Harry enjoyed trains and had a working train set in the basement of his home. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling, playing golf, hunting and fishing. Harry was known to tell stories of his childhood.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two step-sons, Glenn Flakne and Curtis Flakne; a brother, Theodore Mason.
Harry is survived by his wife, Betty Protko Mason whom he married September 1, 1978; a daughter, Laura (Oscar) Sanchez of Maylene, AL; a step-daughter, Debra (Jim) Zotti of South Plainfield, NJ; a grandson, Luke Steer; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Vesper, Erik Vesper, Justin Flakne, Steven Zotti and Jenna (Brian) English; step great-grandchildren, Aidan, Brice, Connor and Teagan.
A funeral mass will be offered at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Holy Cross Church, 249 North Main St., Salem with Rev. Martin Fisher officiating.
