Obituary

North Hoosick-Fremont H. Meerwarth, Jr., 82, of North Hoosick, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

Born August 20, 1935 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Fremont H. Meerwarth, Sr. and Nora Andrew Meerwarth.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a self-employed dairy farmer for many years until he retired.  Following retirement, he worked as a deliveryman for NAPA Auto Parts in Cambridge, Haynes Ford in Hoosick Falls and Bond Auto Parts in Bennington.

Fremont was a member of the Green Mountain Christian Center Assembly of God Church in Bennington and had served as an Elder.  He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the White Creek Town Board and also served as the President of the Center White Creek Cemetery Association.  He had traveled for several mission trips to South America, Central America and Haiti.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Marcia Walker Meerwarth who passed away March 9, 2017; a son, Fremont "Mike" Meerwarth III; a brother, John J. Meerwarth.

Survivors include his children, Marcy Stearns of Eagle Bridge, Peter (Jan) Meerwarth of Allentown, NJ and Paul (Kathleen) Meerwarth of Niskayuna, NY.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Christopher Meerwarth, Andrew Meerwarth, Nicole Meerwarth (Neil Curwin), Ryan (Becca) Meerwarth, Ashley Meerwarth, Michael (Kate) Stearns, Dan (Sarah) Stearns, Heather Stearns (Randy O'Brien), Cindy Stearns, Isaac Meerwarth and Sam Meerwarth; 2 great grandchildren; a sister, Jane Jepson of Rutland, VT; a sister-in-law, Ronna Meerwarth of Eagle Bridge and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Grace Christian School, 104 Kocher Dr., Bennington, VT.

Interment will be held privately at the Center White Creek Cemetery.
