Obituary

Salem-Francis Blanck, 78, of Salem, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Born July 22, 1939 in Queens, he was the son of the late Francis and Helen (Snow) Blanck.  He moved to the Salem area at a young age and attended Salem Washington Academy.

Francis and his wife had owned and operated Blanck's Sunoco for 20 years and they also operated Blanck's Pizza & Sub Shop.  He also served as the Justice of the Peace for the Town and Village of Salem for over 30 years.

Francis enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and he was a member of the New York State Magistrates Association.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Alberta Ann Blanck who passed away January 8, 2015; 2 sisters, Marilyn Schramm & Fran Giovanniello.

Francis is survived by his children, Frank (Cindy) Blanck of Shushan and Fred (Chris) Blanck of Salem; grandchildren, Tera (Dale) Williams, Frankie (Mary) Blanck, Mandy (Joel) Chamberlain, Missy (Carl) Fleming and Fred Blanck.  He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Payten, Ellie & Jack Williams, Ava & Trip Blanck, Chase Chamberlain, Landon Fleming and his special friends, Ruby & Howard Chapman.

The family thanks his case manager, Minette McCoy and his caregivers, Cathy Wadsworth, his grandson, Frankie and Robin Vandecar for the wonderful care given to Francis.  Also a thank you to the Salem Rescue Squad and the doctors and nurses at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Francis and his family.

Funeral services will be held privately.
