Ethel (Rosansky)
Presser
Jul 14, 1926 — Jan 15, 2023
Cambridge, NY – Ethel (nee Rosansky) Presser, age 96, of Cambridge, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on January 15.
Born July 14th, 1926, in Liberty, NY, Ethel was a long-time resident of Spring Valley and Suffern, with her now-deceased husband of forty years, Leonard, before moving upstate to Cambridge.
Survivors include her children David (Carolynn), Janet, and Richard (Nelson), eight grandchildren and, as yet, one great grandson, as well as dear cousins, cherished nieces and nephews, and late-in-life treasured friends.
Ethel was known for having an informed and discerning eye—her home was tastefully decorated with treasures and valuable collectibles she had discovered at tag sales and thrift stores. She derived immense pleasure from every aspect of the process, from driving happily around in whatever county she found herself to confirming the value of her finds in her collector's books, all the while enjoying her independence, sense of adventure, and knowing keen eye. Her passion for healthy cooking and eating, gifts she passed on to her family, undoubtedly added to her longevity and independence.
Late in life, she delighted in learning of extended family connections in California, Florida, England, and Canada that she only had heard stories about, or had grown up with but had lost touch with over the years. Those new connections helped fill gaps in her history and sense of self and belonging.
The family is bereft, but grateful for the example of her determination and strength of character, as well as for loving, thoughtful family who cared about and regularly connected with Ethel, no matter the distance or years.
A graveside service and interment will be at Congregation Sons of Israel, New Hempstead, January 18, 1 pm.
