Cambridge-Dorothy Silkworth Bailey, 94, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2016 after a short illness.
Born July 15, 1922 in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Margaret (Cox) Silkworth. She graduated from Greenwich High School.
She worked at Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, NY prior to retiring to her husband's childhood home in South Cambridge. She volunteered as a librarian at the former Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge.
Dorothy was a member of the South Cambridge Grange, Capt. Maxson Post 634 of the American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution, South Cambridge United Methodist Church and Embury United Methodist Church.
She is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Harry Beadle Bailey of Cambridge.
Dorothy is survived by their five children: James, Suzanne, Bruce (and his wife, Monica McGuire), Barbara, and Steven. They have eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, from 1 to 2:00 pm at Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 W. Main St, Cambridge, NY. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.
