Salem-Donald E. Hall, 70, of Salem, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at his residence.

Born April 5, 1946 in Granville, he was the son of the late Edwin Maynard and Lorraine (Bemis) Hall.  Don was a 1963 graduate of Granville High School.  He enlisted in the U.S Navy in 1964 and served aboard the USS Salamonie.  He was honorably discharged in 1968.

Don had worked at General Electric in Fort Edward in the Film Department retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 323 in Granville.  Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and growing a vegetable garden every year.  Don also spent a lot of time at his home away from home, McDougal Lake.

In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his high school sweetheart of 40 years, Cynthia Palmer Hall who passed away October 20, 2006.

Don is survived by his 3 children and their spouses, Donald and Katy Hall of Granville, Robert and Amy Hall of Shushan and Diane and Erik Nussbaum of Queensbury.  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Emily Hall, Graham Hall, Carter Hall, Owen Hall, Corbin Hall, Jason Nussbaum and Connor Nussbaum;  a sister, Melanie (Robert) Shevil of Granville; father-in-law, Milford Palmer of Lake City, FL; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Tom) Greene; brother-in-law, Clifford Palmer of Jacksonvile, FL and 5 nieces, 1 great nephew and 1 great niece.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Mettowee Valley Cemetery, North Street, Granville with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.
