Buskirk-Donald R. DeSacia, 61, of Buskirk, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Centers for Living & Rehabilitation in Bennington.
Born April 16, 1956 in Liverpool, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Anna Rose (McGuire) DeSacia.
Don attended St. Mary's School in Hoosick Falls and graduated from Cambridge Central School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Vermont College in Bennington.
He had worked for Stanley Tools in Shaftsbury and then he went to work for NSK Steering Systems American, Inc. in Bennington as a Training & Development Specialist for nearly 30 years.
Don attended the Salem United Methodist Church and was a member of the Greenwich Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed walking and hiking, reading the newspaper, listening to music, canoeing and traveling to Maine. He was a New York Yankee fan and loved being around his family.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by a nephew, Eamon DeSacia; his father-in-law, Charles Beattie, Sr.
Don is survived by his wife of 30 years, Debra Beattie DeSacia; his mother-in-law, Dorothy B. Beattie of Salem; a brother, James (Nuala) DeSacia of Schenectady; 2 sisters, Susan McGrew of Schenectady and Nancy DeSacia of Lakeland, FL; his aunt, Isabelle McGuire of Hoosick Falls; a sister-in-law, Denise Beattie of Glens Falls and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 3-6 pm at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem. A service to celebrate Don's life will be Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Salem United Methodist Church, 29 West Broadway, Salem with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.
Interment will be at a later date in Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Don can be made to Bennington VNA & Hospice, 1128 Monument Avenue, Bennington, VT 05201 or the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
