Jackson-Clifford O. Rowland, 79, of Jackson, passed away peacefully Monday, July 4, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side.

Born July 10, 1936 in West Rupert, VT, he was the son of the late Walter and Mabel (Skidmore) Rowland.

Clifford attended Salem Washington Academy and was a dairy farmer for many years.  He also worked construction for Laborers Union 452 in Troy.  Clifford was the Town of Jackson Highway Superintendent for 12 years and he retired from Mor-Con in Cambridge in 2014.

Clifford loved to hunt and he raised chickens and sold them locally.  He loved spending time with his family who were very important to him.

In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother and two sisters, Raymond Rowland, Shirley Woodcock and Anna Rowland.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-years, Anita Snow Rowland, whom he married November 26, 1955; his children, Tina Rowland of Cambridge, Sally (Charles, Jr.) DeMarco of Buskirk, Brenda (Tom) Williams of Shushan, Lisa (the late William) Shaw, Jennifer (Mike Ruthowsky) Mulligan of Cambridge and adopted daughter, Carol Saunders of Cambridge.

He is also survived by a brother, Lawrence (Ethel) Rowland and a sister, Barbara Rowland of Salem; his grandchildren, Alicia Williams, Tony (Tia) DeMarco and Scott (Katie) DeMarco; a great grandson, Dominic Williams and a special nephew, Mike Rowland and his son, Marino and also many other nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge.  A memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm at the conclusion of the calling hour.
