Salem-Christopher G. Hussong, 77, of Salem, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at his residence as a result of pancreatic cancer.

Born June 27, 1940 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Philip and Virginia (Szumlas) Hussong.

Chris attended St. John the Baptist Middle School in Schenectady and graduated in 1958 from Linton High School in Schenectady.

He briefly worked for the Carl Co. and then went to work for the New York State Comptroller's Office in the Human Resources Dept. as Payroll Clerk #4 retiring in 2004 after 38 years of service.

In the 1960's, Chris was the President of the Catholic Young Adult League.  He moved to Salem in 2010 from Colonie.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Shuler Hussong; faithful canine companion, Chester and his feline companions, Leo, Miss Harvey, Jelly Bean and Lester.

A celebration of his life will be Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Salem Community Fellowship Church, 224 Main St., Salem.
