Gansevoort – Charmaine June (Fairbanks) Porter, 81, of Gansevoort passed away Friday, March 22, 2024 at Albany Medical Center.

Charmaine was born in Troy, NY May 28, 1942 the daughter of the late Earl Vernon Fairbanks and Flossie LeBarron Fairbanks.

She graduated from Cambridge Central School in 1963 and continued her education at Green Lane Bible Institute in Green Lane, PA where she pursued the art of sign language.

She lived in Cambridge for many years working at the Mary McClellan Hospital.  She worked for ARC for many years where she was a counselor, but left due to an injury.  Charmaine had a hobby of collecting pigs which her collection totaled to 5000 of all kinds, shapes & sizes.  She also enjoyed reading, word search puzzles.

Charmaine is predeceased by her husband, William G. Porter and one son, William G. Porter, Jr. who died at 3 months old; a sister, Barbara Jean Fairbanks and a brother, Donald Edward Fairbanks.

Charmaine is survived by her four children, Raymond Lee Porter (Nicol) of Schuylerville, Dawn Marie McCauley of Schuylerville, Wendy Renee Gamache (Mike) of Fort Edward and Staci Charmaine Tasso (Joe) of Porter Corners; her grandchildren, Jamie Marie Allen, Martin Allen, Zachary Porter, Ryan Porter, Joshua Porter, Eric Plasencia, Marissa Gamache, Mariah Gamache and Jeremy Allen.

A private funeral service will be held at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.  Interment will be at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
