Cambridge-Caroline M. Matatt, 56, of Cambridge, passed away Friday night, October 7, 2016 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.
Born March 27, 1960 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Floyd M. and Victoria J. (Czarnick) Jensen.
Caroline was a 1979 graduate of Tamarac Central Schools and worked for CB Sports in Bennington in the early 1980's. She took the New York State Trooper's exam and decided to enlist in the U.S. Air Force serving for 8 years and attained the rank of Staff Sgt. Following her discharge from the Air Force, Caroline worked for Durrin Transportation as a bus driver in the 1990's. She then went to work for the Commission of Economic Opportunity in Troy in the Early Childhood Development program and was also the Assistant Manager in the Finance Department. Caroline also worked as a secretary for Baker Insurance Agency in Hoosick Falls and retired due to her illness.
Caroline was a member of the Captain Maxson Post 634 American Legion in Cambridge. She had a passion for horses. She loved to ride horses and trained quarter horses as well as collecting horse figurines. Caroline enjoyed gardening and sunflowers were her favorite flower to grow. She also collected 45 records and old rustic items. She had a love for cats and enjoyed drawing.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her 2 twin infant sons, Charles and Brian Arnold.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Arthur L. Matatt; her 2 children, Holly Arnold of Elmira and Ethan Arnold of Cambridge. She is also survived by 3 step-children, Joshua Matatt, Aaron (Misty) Matatt and Dustin (Zoey) Matatt, all of Cambridge; a brother, James Jensen of Hoosick Falls and a step granddaughter, Isabella Matatt; a niece and her husband, Jessica Jensen Braman and Gunnery Sergeant James Braman, an explosive ordinance disposal tech in the U.S. Marine Corps and their three children, Paige, Zachery and Jackson all from Beaufort, SC.
Calling hours are Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 3-6 pm at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge. A service will begin at the conclusion of the calling hours at 6:00 pm with Pastor Mike Benoit officiating.
Interment with military honors will be at 11:00 am Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
