Cambridge-Bonnie Slater, 62, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington surrounded by her loving family. Bonnie was born in Granville, NY on September 4th, 1954, daughter of Clifford and Alice (Colburn) Slater.
Bonnie was raised on a farm in Salem, NY and attended school there. As a child, Bonnie loved the outdoors and singing and would compete in variety shows.
As a young woman Bonnie married Gary Burch, Sr. of Hartford, NY and had 3 children she adored. She loved making crafts, sewing Halloween costumes, gardening, camping, berry picking, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved animals and had many pets including her beloved Tom turkey and her dogs Clyde, Baby, Mako and Bubbles.
Bonnie worked for more than 20 years as a manager for a local retail store. She will be remembered by friends and family as a woman who was giving, generous and had a big heart.
Bonnie is survived by her companion Paul Adams; her son, Gary Burch, Jr. and his wife Keri; son, David Burch; daughter, Summer Burch and her husband Jay Stover. Her 5 grandchildren; Bridget, Gary III, Bradley, Junius and Callie. Her siblings, Gloria Howard; Debbie Slater; Sharron LaFlamme and her husband Chris; Diane Beckett and her husband Ed; Terry Slater and his wife Karen and Brenda Gorman and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Tina Burch.
A calling hour will be from 12-1 pm Friday, August 18, 2017 at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem. A funeral service will begin at the conclusion of the calling hour at 1 pm with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.
Interment will be at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the C. R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park St. Glens Falls, NY 12801.
