Obituary

Sandgate, VT-Beverly A. Hay, 81, of Sandgate, passed away Wednesday morning, December 4, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born September 25, 1938 in Jamaica, VT, she was the daughter of Russell Aldrich and Barbara Thomson Aldrich Lant.

Beverly was a 1956 graduate of Salem Washington Academy.  She married her husband, Douglas T. Hay and they both owned school buses which they transported students to school for the Town of Rupert for 40 years.

Beverly was active in the Rupert community especially with the Rupert Fire Dept. where she worked many dinners and events such as the Rupert Carnival for many years.  Bev was a member and former President of the Salem Senior Citizens; a member of the Eagles Club in Manchester, VT.

Bev was always helping people and would drive her friends to doctor appointments.  She loved to cook and was famous for her baked beans.  Bev was the recipient of the Citizen Award of the Town of Rupert.  Still being active and helping people, when Bev and her husband Doug wintered in Florida, they would host dinners at the Arrowhead Campground in Ocala, FL.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Douglas T. Hay who passed away November 5, 2015; a daughter, Donna Elaine Garso; a sister, Mary Hunt; a brother, William Aldrich.

Beverly is survived by her children, Deborah (Richard) Baker of West Rupert and Diana (Michael) Baker of Hebron, NY; very close friend, Pat Perkins of Hebron, NY; a brother, Robert (Pat) Aldrich of Rutland, VT; grandchildren, Douglas Garso, Heather (Tyson) Weller, Stephanie (Mike) Baker, Danielle (Sean) Stevenson and Alex Baker; great grandchildren, Jaella & Jacey Weller, Hunter & Rowan Ellis and Wesley Stevenson.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her beloved feline companion, "Tom".

A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Rupert Street Cemetery with Pastor Paul Mychack officiating.

Following the service, everyone is invited to the Rupert Firehouse for a reception and time to share memories of Beverly Hay.  She will be missed for her love to the Rupert community, her family and friends.
