Cambridge - Betty Weisenseel, 90, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026, at her residence.
Born July 21, 1936, in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Nesbitt) Sullivan. Betty grew up in Queens and, following her marriage to Charles Eugene Weisenseel on July 23, 1955, the couple moved to Wantagh, Long Island, NY. Her husband passed away in 1981.
Betty enjoyed crocheting and reading the newspapers, especially The Eagle, The Daily News, and Newsday. She loved scratch-off lottery tickets and enjoyed having a cup of tea several times each day. She attended St. Patrick’s Church in Cambridge whenever she was able.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Marion (Alan) Watkins of Cambridge; her son, Michael (Susan) Weisenseel of Long Island; her special friend and caregiver, Olive Sexton of Cambridge; and her precious grandchildren, Bryan, Patricia, Greg, and Kelly. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Edward Sullivan.
Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband at Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge, NY.
Memorial contributions in memory of Betty may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
