Rupert, VT-Barbara P. Armstrong, 88, formerly of Rupert, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Slate Valley Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Granville.
Born July 17, 1929 in Pawlet, VT, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Marie (Waite) Patrick.
Barbara was educated in local schools and had worked for J.H. Guild in Rupert, the Gotham Paper Mill in Salem and then became a caretaker for people in the area and also worked for the Dorset Nursing Association as a caretaker as well.
She served as the secretary of the Rupert Street Cemetery for 14 years; a member of the Rupert Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Modern Woodmen's of America in Wells.
Barbara enjoyed quilting, painting and doing clothing alterations for those who needed it. She was active in the community where she lived.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Rudd Armstrong who passed away August 9, 2012; sister, Beverly Armstrong; a brother, George Patrick and many half- brothers and sisters.
Barbara is survived by her children: David Rudd Armstrong Jr. of Rupert, Claude Emerson Armstrong (Dianne Beattie) of Manchester Center, Christine Ann (Rev. Douglas) Jones of Clearwater, FL and Marjorie Jean (Eric) Henningsen of Sarasota, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Stephanie Hoard, David Rudd Armstrong III (Amy Wolfe), Ashley Armstrong (Dave Jurnak), Claude Emerson Armstrong II (Christina), Eric Armstrong, Daniel Mach, Jason Mach, Donald Jones, Lucas Jones, Andrea Henningsen (Grayson Striebel) & Douglas Henningsen; great-grandchildren: Nicolette Hoard, Alida Hoard, David Armstrong IV, Lana Armstrong, Aviana Armstrong, Abigail Armstrong, Cameron Sargent, Kara Jurnak, Brooke Jurnak & many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Rupert United Methodist Church, Rupert, VT on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10 am with Pastor Tom Atkins officiating.
Interment will follow at the Rupert Cemetery. A reception following the services will be at the Rupert Firehouse.
