Salem-Adelfred E. Bryer, DC, 84, of Salem, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born in Woodsville, NH on January 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Charlie and Ethel (Goodwin) Bryer. Doc graduated from Northfield High School in Northfield, VT and attended Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa where he received his Bachelor's Degree.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a Radioman serving on the U.S.S. Stoddard, U.S.S. McCard and the U.S.S. Thomas.
Doc was a Chiroprator in Salem for 53 years owning Bryer Chiropratic on Main Street. He helped and became friends with many people over the years. He retired in 2014.
He was one of the original founders of the East Coast Group Chiropractic Knights of R.T. 19; he attended many Chiropractic seminars over the course of his career. Doc received the Parker Chiropractor of the Year Award of the East Coast.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy Paige Bryer who passed away February 12, 1994; a daughter, Brenda Morin; a sister Millie Chapman
Doc is survived by his second wife, Margaret Rhodes Bryer; two daughters; Velvet VanBuren of Holly, MI and Donna Andrews of Connecticut; a step-daughter, Stephanie Gawthorpe of Hull, England; one brother, Trueman Bryer St. Albans, VT; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
A service will be at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating.
Memorial contributions in memory of Doc may be made to the Salem Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 360, Salem, NY 12865.
