Stephen Hannon Obituary

CAMBRIDGE - Stephen Philip (Joseph) Hannon, 45, went to be with Jesus at his eternal home in Heaven on Saturday, July 21, 2018, after a short illness. Stephen was born on August 28, 1972, in Cambridge, NY, son of the late Stephen Joseph Hannon. He attended Cambridge Central School, and he also attended Adirondack Community College for Architectural Design. Later, he went on to become a stonemason. He was very proud of his trade, artistically creating beautiful stone walls, fireplaces, and custom designs, which he did completely by hand.

Stephen also had a passion for cooking from the time he was young, and he enjoyed fine dining. As an adult, he loved preparing and serving full course, gourmet meals. On numerous special occasions and holidays, he hosted his entire family and prepared specialty dishes, which were always over-the-top.

He was generous and loyal to a fault, had an incredible sense of humor, was very quick-witted, and enjoyed reading. He loved to help other people, even when he didn’t feel well; tried to protect his family from worrying about him; and had many traits of his father. He was an excellent drummer and a fitness enthusiast. He was a lifelong Dolphins fan, until recently when he converted to being a Patriots fan due to family loyalty (Jim and Rene Whalen). He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing and fishing, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews who all referred to him simply as “Uncle.”

Those left to cherish Stephen’s memory are: his mother, Barbara (Zolynas) Griffin, and step-father, Mike Griffin, of Gallupville; sisters, Pamela H. Bolton (William) of Whitehall; Jean B. Daly (Tom) of Hoosick Falls; Christine D. Williams (Bobby) of Cambridge; Barb H. Foley of Cambridge; foster brother, Joe Adamiszyn (Ladean) of Mechanicville; ten nieces and nephews, Alex Merriman, Brandon Merriman, Samuel Merriman, Robert Howie, Xavier Daly, Elizabeth Swain, Tristan Williams, Liam Williams, Chloe Foley, and Ava Pitts; one great-niece, Lily Foster; and two great-nephews, Forest Allen and Asher Allen. He also leaves behind some dearly loved aunts and uncles, as well as cousins, and many friends who lovingly referred to him as “Flex.”

Please join the family as they celebrate Stephen’s life on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Jacob’s Well Family Worship Center, 29 West Main Street, Cambridge. Calling hours will be from 4:30 PM – 6 PM, with a 6 PM memorial service immediately following. Everyone is invited to join the family for a meal after the service in the church hall.
