Sheila G. Morey

West Rupert, VT-Sheila G. Morey, 73, of West Rupert, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, March 6, 2018 at her residence.

Sheila was born December 3, 1944 in Bennington and was the daughter of the late Charles and Luella (Young) Breen.

Sheila was a 1961 graduate of North Bennington High School and attended the Putnam Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Bennington where she received her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Sheila’s career was working in the healthcare field at local hospitals, nursing homes and private duty. Sheila first worked at the Putnam Memorial Hospital and at the Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge for 10 years. She then worked at the Indian River Nursing Home in Granville, the Equinox Terrace Assisted Living in Manchester and then became a private duty LPN until she retired in June 2017.

Sheila was a member of the Rupert Congregational Church; a member of the Farm Bureau, the Home Dem and the Green Mountain Grange in Rupert.  She was a 4-H leader for 30 years in West Rupert, she enjoyed camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, walking her dogs and attending POW WOWS.  Her grandchildren and great grandson were the joy of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Breen; her longtime companion, Delbert Tifft, who passed away January 6, 2017.

Sheila is survived by her children, Keith (Lori) Morey of Rupert, VT, Glenn (Christine) Morey of West Rupert, VT and Ellen Morey Crawford of West Arlington, VT.  She is also survived by her siblings, Valerie (Alan) Knapp of Dekalb Junction, NY, Nora (John) Hunter of North Springfield, VT, Michael (Faith) Breen of Bennington and Paul Breen of Orwell, VT; her grandchildren, Amy Morey, John Morey, Justin Morey, Samantha Morey, Makayla Barton, Grace Morey, Charles Crawford and Carolyn Crawford; a great grandson, Bentley Barton and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in the spring at the Rupert Cemetery.
