Cambridge-Robert C. Mathers, 82, of Cambridge, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 22, 1936 in Bennington, he was the son of the late Harry and Nina (Elliott) Mathers.
He attended elementary school in Bennington, and attending the Seventh Day Adventist Academy in South Lancaster, MA as a teen.
Bob worked in carpentry for many years, a trade he learned from his father. Later, he worked at the Mary McClellan Hospital in the maintenance department where he stayed for 18 years and
finally at National Hanger in Bennington until he retired.
Bob loved music, he enjoyed playing the piano and organ especially in church. He also enjoyed going to the races at the Lebanon Valley Speedway and attended the Seventh Day Adventist
Church in Buskirk.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Peters Mathers, who passed away October 8, 2017; a brother, Roger Mathers; a sister, Elizabeth Humphrey.
Bob is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Mathers and Danielle Dupuis of Cambridge; 2 grandchildren, Madeline & Jack Mathers; a sister, Joan Carbonaro of Florida.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home 73 West Main St., Cambridge, with Jeffrey Peck officiating.
Interment will be in the Center White Creek Cemetery.
