Phyllis Ann (Hansen) DeMarco

Buskirk-Phyllis Ann DeMarco, 85, of Buskirk, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at Albany Medical Center.

Born May 9, 1933 in Salem, she was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Beaty) Hansen.  Phyllis was a graduate of 1950 Salem Washington Academy.  Prior to her marriage, she worked at C.A. Baltz Shirt Factory in Salem.  Later, she worked in the housekeeping department at the Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge for nearly 20 years until it’s closing.

Phyllis’ most precious time was spending it with her grandchildren and enjoyed watching their sporting events.  She loved gardening, sewing, crocheting, watching the birds and playing cards with her friends.  She volunteered at the Cambridge Valley Senior Citizens Center where she looked forward to going and being with people.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Charles A. DeMarco, Sr. who passed away March 23, 2000; a son-in-law, Robert Green; a sister, Marie Hansen Priest.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Patricia Green of Eagle Bridge, Charles A. (Sally) DeMarco, Jr., Susan (John) Maroney, Richard DeMarco, Catherine (Paul) Baker, all of Buskirk and Melanie (Jon) Wilbur of Greenwich.  She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Patricia Hayes, Robert Green, Jr., Alicia Williams, Anthony (Tia) DeMarco, Scott DeMarco, Michelle (Dan) Tully, Christopher Maroney, Paul Baker, Jr., Nicole Wilbur, Brandon Wilbur, Bryce Wilbur and Jenna Wilbur; great grandchildren, Dominic Williams, Dakota Green, Ryan Tully and Colin Tully as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.  A funeral service will begin at 1 pm with Jeffrey Peck, Parish Life Director of St. Patrick’s Church officiating.

Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cambridge at a later date.
