Mary S. (Fallacaro) Tarantino

Colonie-It is with great sorrow that we announce our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mary Tarantino (Fallacaro), passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the young age of 91 in Schenectady, NY.

Mary is survived by her siblings, Dominic (Grace) Fallacaro, Florence Jarvis; her sons, Angelo (Gail) and James (Susan); her grandchildren Anjanette (David) Schwartz, Amanda, Alicia, Juliet and Maura; her great-grandchildren, Jordan, Isaiah and Kadesh. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest; sisters, Anna Rose Bennett and Nicolette Gillman and brothers-in-law, Harold Bennett, James Gillman and Dale Jarvis.

Mary was born in Buffalo, NY on August 31, 1926.  She married the love of her life, Ernest, in 1946 and together they resided in Hudson Falls, Salem, Cossayuna Lake and Orange City, Florida, as well as Colonie, NY later in life.

Mary and Ernie owned and operated a grocery/toy store in Salem and were well known in their community.  Together they enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, church activities and hosting many family gatherings at their home on Cossayuna Lake.  Mary was a member of Holy Cross Church in Salem and the Altar Rosary Society; a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was Grand Regent; a member of the Francis J. Clark American Legion Ladies Auxiliary & served as President at one time.

In later years, Mary enjoyed volunteering at the Beltrone Living Center in Colonie and cherished the friendships she made with the Colonie Red Hats. 

Relatives and friends may call from 12:00 – 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the McClellan-Gariepy Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem.   Mary’s final resting place will be in a family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hudson Falls later in the year.
