Cambridge-Though named Lawrence Wend Tate at his birth, on May 12, 1927, by his parents, Alma Wend and Leroy Tate, most people knew him as Bud. He passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2018 in the comfort of his home.
Bud grew up in Johnsonville and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. He met the love of his life, Phyllis Kittel, at EZ Mills in Bennington where he worked after being discharged. They were married on April 23, 1949 and made their home in Buskirk, NY where they raised their two children, Diane Tate Moses and Alan Tate.
Bud supported his family as a technician for 32 years at GE Silicones in Waterford, NY. He loved photography, playing pitch with his family, his grandchildren, Michael (Heather) Moses and Jodie (Ron) Sinsabaugh and great-grandchildren, Colby and Ashley Moses and Kylie and Ayla Sinsabaugh. He is also survived by his sister, Alice Tupper of Fort Ann and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Nicholas, Kenneth and LeRoy and his sisters, Catherine, Marjorie and Dorothy; a son-in-law, Gary Moses.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday May 14th from 5-7 pm at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 East Main Street. The funeral service will be at the Church on Tuesday May 15th at 11:00 am.
Interment will be at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge.
