Eagle Bridge-Jacob Earl Weber, age 79, of Eagle Bridge, NY, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Among countless other things, he will be remembered for his work ethic, kindness, and love for animals.
To know Jacob was a gift. He was the definition of a hard-worker. He spent many years driving truck and working construction. At home, he was the original MacGyver. He could always be found tinkering in his garage listening to polka and country classics or riding his tractor. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars, hunting, and bringing his grandkids on tractor rides.
Jacob was a master yodeler inspiring younger generations to pursue the art... all without success. At his house, there was always something on the stove and he would ensure you left with a full belly whether you wanted to or not. He was a gentle soul who was willing to drop everything to help others. He loved feeding the birds and caring for stray animals. Wherever Jacob was, his dog wasn’t far from his side.
Jacob is predeceased by his mother, Virginia, father, Jake, his brother, Hermie, and sister, Vivian.
His memory will live on as a devoted husband to his wife, Helen, of 59 years; cherished father to his children: Diane, Jacob and Patty, Richard and Lisa, Joe and Denise, and Jim and Amanda; brother to Paul and Paula; beloved grandfather to his 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and best friend to his dog, George II.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-7 pm Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 11, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Clyde McCaskill officiating.
