Queensbury- Bernadette Marie “Bernie” Green, 94, a longtime resident of the Queensbury area, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Glens Falls Center.
Bernie was born in 1924 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Her family moved to a beloved farm in Enfield, New Hampshire, where she recalled many wonderful memories. It is there, at the age of 16, that she met the love of her life, Edmund Thomas Green. They married two years later, just before he left to serve in World War II. Upon his return, they moved to New York and raised their children on Long Island.
In her younger years, Bernie loved neighborhood parties and traveling. She continued to enjoy “Happy Hour” into her later years. She was an accomplished knitter and an avid reader until failing eyesight made both of those activities impossible.
Bernie is preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by three children, Ed (Ellen) Green of Cambridge, NY, Joseph (Deborah) Green of Lake George, NY, and Barbara (George) Cardinal of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Sarina (Gordon) Ogden of New York City, Linnea (Dalton) Harben, of Cambridge, VT, Sara (Colby) Thomason, of Duxbury, MA, Katherine Howard of Titusville, FL and Brett Bolesh (Haley) of Gansevoort, NY. She has eight beautiful great grandchildren. She is also survived by her very special friend, Violet Washburn, of the Glens Falls Center.
The family would like to thank Dr. Socolof and all the staff at the Glens Falls Center for their special attention and care.
Bernie’s ashes will join her husband's at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in a small family service at a later date.
