Cambridge-Amber J. Horton, 92, of Cambridge, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Granville Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing where she resided for the past 6 months.
Born March 27, 1926 in Peekskill, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ruth (Fortune) Chase.
Amber was raised and educated in Peekskill and relocated to Cambridge in 1946. She had worked in the cafeteria at the Cambridge Central School for many years. She also worked at the former Kinney Pharmacy in Cambridge.
Amber was a longtime member of the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Pleasant Valley Grange. Amber loved her family, church and home, especially her flower gardens.
In addition to her parents, Amber was predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. Horton; a brother, Albert Chase.
Amber is survived by her children, Earl (Donna) Horton of Cambridge and Susan (Allan) MacNeil of Granville; two brothers, Roland Chase of Gansevoort and Roy Chase of Kissimmee, FL; a sister in law, Marge (Joseph) Moore of Hoosick Falls. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and their spouses; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, 81 East Main St., Cambridge with Rev. Kate Kotfila officiating.
A reception will follow the service in the Emma Holden Room.
