Salem-Adam George Gadzinski, Jr., was born July 17, 1937 to Adam and Martha Gadzinski in Brooklyn, NY. Diagnose at the age of 7, Adam never let his type 1 diabetes stop him from being active and enjoying his life. His family moved to Lindenhurst, Long Island when he was 14. He excelled in many sports, earning himself a scholarship for basketball to Hofstra College where he was known as Zeke Gadzinski. During this time he studied to become an accountant and met his wife Nancy. After school, they married and moved to Babylon, Long Island where they lived, loved and raised their family.
After 20 years with the Long Island Railroad, Adam retired and he and his wife moved north to the small upstate town of Salem, NY. Adam continued his love of sports, which was apparent by his frequent attendance and support of the Salem Generals sports programs.
Adams memory lives on through his loving wife, Nancy Gadzinski; his son, Glenn Adam Gadzinski and his partner, Cynthia McDonald; his daughter, Karen Vieira and her husband, Tony; granddaughters, Heather Gadzinski and Izabella Chavez; his great granddaughter, Aaliyah Hurtado; many nieces and nephews and his loving and faithful dog, Molly.
Adam will be remembered as a loving husband and father and a faithful friend. He worked hard but believed it was important to enjoy life with those he loved. Our Captain Action will be greatly missed.
Services will be held privately.
In tribute to Adam and to those that helped him, we are asking in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the Salem Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 360, Salem, NY 12865 or The Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
