Welcome to the memorial page for

Sharron Lee (Woodcock) Messina

October 13, 1941 ~ January 17, 2018 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Cambridge-Sharron Lee (a middle name she gave herself, as she believed her Mom ran out after 11 children) Messina passed away peacefully in her daughter's arms on January 17, 2018, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, after a very challenging battle with Congestive Heart Failure.  She was 29 years old, at least that is what all her children and grandchildren believe even though she was born on October 13, 1941, to Earl and Lillian Woodcock (deceased) in Cambridge, NY.

Love, the only word that could honestly describe what Sharron gave to everyone in her life, without boundaries. HER family was HER family, and her job was to protect that family. A job she did so well. As she always said, “you don't gotta like your family, but you do have to love them.” She never lacked the hesitation to tell you what she was thinking no matter how it made you feel at that moment. You never walked away or hung up the phone not knowing that Sharron loved you with all her might and that no matter what she was going to be there for you.

The matriarch of the Messina clan reminded us daily that life without laughter is not living at all. Whether you were in the restaurant, she and Albie were in or got her facebook feed, and you knew that Sharron never lived a dull day. She lived by the saying, “life is too short.” She loved truly, she laughed hard, and she left behind an extraordinary legacy to live out her memories.

We know that Mama embraced those that have predeceased her, including son Todd Alan who died in 1961, mother and father, many brother and sisters, nieces and nephews and grandson Albert David who died in 2015.  We hope they have a Margarita waiting for her because she deserves her favorite drink after the fight she had with her heart.

Loopty Loo, as her husband Albert of 57 years lovingly called her, was a magnificent Mother, homemaker and helped run the family business (Messina’s Mobil) in Cambridge, NY until they retired in 1993. Together they loved to travel to Cocoa Beach, FL, Myrtle Beach, SC and South Padre Island, TX.  In all these places she enjoyed finding and wearing awesome hats and daringly fashionable sunglasses.

Babe, as her father affectionately his youngest daughter, is survived by only one of her eleven siblings Gladys “Dee” Headwell (Woodcock). Also, surviving her are her children, Chad and wife Joan of Colorado Springs, CO, Anthony and Nicholas Messina of Cambridge, NY and Rachel Messina Saunders of Creedmoor, NC.  Her many Grandchildren also survive her, Jacob and Wife Brianne serving in the USAF at Osan AB, South Korea, Jessica of Colorado Springs, CO, Jennifer and husband Clint serving in the US Army at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, Corin Anthony of Saratoga Springs, NY Vincent Messina serving in the US Army at Fort Meade, MD, Maria and Necola Messina of Cambridge, NY, Jeremey and wife Joanna Messina, Alix Messina all of Greenwich, NY and Bailey Saunders of Tucumcari, NM.  Finally, surviving her are nine Great Grandchildren, Kaylie, C.J., Emmalynn, Krystena, Marissa, Shawn, Micah, Brayden, and Brylee, plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.

A celebration of her life is set for January 27, 2018, at Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home, 73 West Main St., Cambridge, NY at 1 pm.  Instead of flowers The Messina Family asks that you do a random act of kindness for someone in need, make someone smile!
