Salem-Mary Frances Button, 96, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born March 27, 1922 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late John and Helena (O’Donnell) Fleming.
Fran was a 1939 graduate of Salem Washington Academy and graduated from the Mildred Elley Business College in 1941.
Fran worked as a secretary for Vogel Trucking Co. in Albany for a brief time and then became a homemaker. She then operated the Salem Bakery in from 1948 to 1966. She then cooked at the Washington County Jail in Salem and also at the Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle.
Fran was a member of Holy Cross Church in Salem.
In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her first husband, George M. Rapp who passed away in 1966; a son-in-law, Alan Hart; a nephew, Jack Fleming; a brother, William Fleming.
Fran is survived by her second husband, Norman H. Button whom she married June 20, 1973; her children, Nancy Hart of Loudonville, George (Cathy) Rapp of Greenwich, John (Hollie) Rapp of Gansevoort and Thomas (Maura) Rapp of Salem. Fran also leaves behind a sister, Ruth Anne Fitzsimmons of Latham; 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Holy Cross Church, 249 North Main St., Salem.
Fran requested that there be no calling hours.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Salem.
